Kenya vs. Gambia Past Match
On 20th March 2025, the Harambee Stars walked into unfamiliar territory when they faced Gambia at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium in Ivory Coast. The Scorpions, lacking a CAF-approved home ground, had adopted Abidjan as their temporary base.
What followed was a rollercoaster contest.
- Musa Barrow struck first for Gambia in the 55th minute. Just six minutes later, Yankuba Minteh doubled the lead, leaving Kenyan fans worried.
- But Kenya refused to crumble. Michael Olunga, as reliable as ever, coolly slotted home a penalty in the 69th minute to bring hope.
- The spotlight then shifted to youngster Mohammed Bajaber, who smashed in a stunner to level the game at 2โ2.
- Gambia thought they had snatched victory when Barrow scored again in the 84th minute, but Kenya had the last laugh. Deep into stoppage time, William Wilson pounced to make it 3โ3, sparking wild celebrations.
That comeback wasnโt just about the scorelineโit was a statement. Kenya showed the world that they can fight back against anyone, anywhere.
Kasarani Roars to Life
Fast-forward to 5th September 2025. The Scorpions traveled to Nairobi for the return leg at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani. Kenyan fans painted the stadium in red, green, black, and white, blowing vuvuzelas and chanting in unison.

This time, both sides approached the game with caution. Kenya pressed for goals through Olunga, Bajaber, and Wilson, while Gambia relied on Barrowโs sharpness up front. The battle was tight, the tackles fierce, and every chance carried weight.
By the final whistle, the teams were still locked together, underlining just how evenly matched they are. It wasnโt the goal-fest of Abidjan, but it was another reminder that in African qualifiers, even the smallest margins can decide dreams
